See what you mean and put your insights to work.

My name is Jennifer Shepherd and I’ve created Living Tapestries as a consulting firm to manifest what I wish to see grow and flourish in the world.

I want to know what you care about and what you aspire towards.
I want to hear your stories and help you retell them.
I want to contribute to your success, one interaction and one conversation at a time.

I have over fifteen years of experience helping not-for-profit and public sector organizations to perform at their best. I enable clients to improve the quality of relationships, focus intentions and actions on what matters, and make meaningful connections that foster learning and change. My areas of expertise include: organizational development, process design and project planning, facilitation, qualitative research, community network development, knowledge translation, and conversational leadership practices and technologies, such as world cafe and open space.

My work is grounded in a philosophy that great learning takes place when people inquire into and draw on their strengths to reach their goals. I am adept at noticing patterns, reframing problems into opportunities, and respectfully inquiring into environmental factors and behaviour dynamics that can have an impact on your organization’s ability to achieve. Approaching assignments from a whole-systems perspective, I help organizations to tap into the collective wisdom of their people and partners and to use powerful questions as reflective and imaginative tools to enable informed and inspired action. I facilitate group processes with a refreshing energy that clients highly praise and value.

My credentials include:

  • Master of Arts, Human Systems Intervention, Concordia University
  • Bachelor of Applied Science, Consumer Studies, University of Guelph
  • Certified Association Executive (CAE), Canadian Society of Association Executives
  • IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF), International Association of Facilitators

Here are a few things that clients and colleagues say about me:

  • Values driven
  • Active curiosity
  • Natural affinity to connect ideas
  • Deep capacity to care
  • Systems thinker
  • Refreshing energy
  • Listens intently
  • Empathetic
  • Detail-oriented
  • Nature lover

Meeting Design & Facilitation

I work closely with organizational leaders, fellow facilitators, and event planners to create the conditions for you to do your best thinking and learning with others and plan to put your insights into action.

Graphic Recording

I harness the power of conversation by organizing and synthesizing complex ideas into a tapestry of words and images. I weave patterns of meaning for you to transform into knowledge, insights and action.

Community Collaboration

I nurture and support communities and networks that cross organizational boundaries. We share, create and apply knowledge to align the strengths of what we know works and help people to collaborate across organizational boundaries and transform insights into action.
